My two cockatiels seem to be keeping their own claws trimmed. One has always been short and the others were getting long so I was keeping an eye on them. Both boys now have nice short claws. Is it normal for them to do this? I always had budgies before and had to get them clipped.

Some birds will actually use their beaks to trim their own claws. Others will wear the tips down naturally by walking around on rought surfaces.
