Hi everyone, asked on another site about my 1 and half year old sleeping in his food dish the past few nights. Is this normal, he is fine in every other way, just the past 3 night he sleeps in his dish instead of the perch he usually sleeps on. will he go back to sleeping on perch soon? Has anyone else had this happen all of a sudden?

It's not unusual for birds to sleep in the food dish. Considering his age and the season, the change might be hormone related - sitting in a dish would feel more like a nest than standing on a perch.

Yes its normal.... I had it many years ago when mine were young.... they grow out of it as they mature.

You can try and position the food bowl lower than the perch. They usually like to sleep on the highest place.

My budgie not only sleeps in the food dish, but bathes in the water dish!
