A few days ago my 12 year old brother came in my room at 6:00 in the morning. He's an early bird. I was sleeping, of course. A bird had hit the window and was unconcious. He took the little bird and put it one of my empty bird cages. Then he tried to wake me up to tell me this. When i didn't respond, he went upstairs. I was like, finally I can get some sleep! He then came down like 10 minutes later and took the now fully-concious and scared to death bird up stairs. He then let it go. I'm like, Noah! How many times have I said stay out of my room? I mean, who brings an unconcious bird into their sisters room and put it into a bird cage, wakes you up, and then let's it go? No one, I tell you! Siblings.....they keep you sane!

It's nice though that he wanted to save a bird in trouble. Make sure you wash that cage really well before you use it again in case of germs, and warn him to never put a wild bird in the same room as your pets to avoid germ problems.

I just found out that instead of the spare EMPTY cage, he put the bird with my other birds! (They all live in 1 big cage) He apparently has a different story now.

All you can do at this point is scrub the cage good and watch your birds for signs of illness or parasites. Warn your brother that this is dangerous both to your bird and to the wild bird. If they had attacked it they might have killed it (or vice versa), and in the beginning at least the wild bird was in no condition to protect itself.

I feel for him though, a bit scatterbrained but he was trying to help the bird! Don't scold him too much please :)
