Silver came to me in March with broken tail feathers. About a month ago, he grew some beautiful new ones, and they are gone again! He has only one moderately long tail feather left.
Silver is nowhere near as good a flyer as Emma and Piper. They go careening around the living room together, and he just sits there. Since he lost the tail feathers again, I think his flying has deteriorated again. He does reluctantly fly short distances, but he cannot maintain that much lift.
When Emma flies, her tail feathers fan out and look so beautiful! I want that for Silver.

Some birds are just clumsy. Jaid was clumsy, but he did grow out of it. Some just don't. When Jaid was a baby, he came to me with one broken tail feather hanging on. The rest were intact. Then they all broke off eventually and he just had a duck butt. He isn't clumsy now. In fact, he is pretty graceful.

He's still young, right? He'll grow out of it with practice. It does seem like forever though!

I'm sorry he broke his tail feathers. You were so happy that he grew them back only to find them gone again. Don't worry, he is still pretty young and will learn the ropes of flying and landing soon. I agree with Cknauf, the wait feels forever.

Are his wing feathers clipped or is he full flighted? You can encourage him to take short flights slightly above a soft surface like a bed. This will help him build his skills and confidence.

He has grown most of his flights in. I will try your suggestion.
