I'd love to hear about how YOUR birds are the-most-brilliant-birds-to-have-ever-lived-in-the-history-of-ever too!

Rules:

1. Bragging, obviously, is allowed.

2. One upping is allowed and actively encouraged.

3. Truth can be truth-ish.

4. While we all agree that our own birds are clearly the big winners here, we also agree that everyone else's birds are clearly the big winners here too. Logic need not apply here.

5. Serial posting is also not only allowed, but encouraged. If you think of something new that you forgot to mention in your previous braggy post, by all means post again! We MUST know every detail of how completely killer your bird is and how it dominates the universe in it's absolute awesome-ness. We can't make a proper diagnosis of absolute awesomisity without all the details, it just wouldn't be scientifically sound.

6. Sometimes a birds' brilliance is on a more surreal plain of existence that our mere human brains just can't quite grasp. Sometimes certain nuanced, vague behaviors can clue us in to their obvious dominance in the world of awesomeness, especially if they are a special needs bird who is doing something that is unique and awesome (to the max) for them.

6. These rules were just made up by me on the fly so they're obviously complete BS and can be changed at any time.

7. Fun. Birds. Fun. In that order. Or something.

GO.

Coyote is THISCLOSE to whistling that whistle tune of "Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay" and we've only been working on it for a couple of weeks. Today, whistling Sittin on the Dock of the Bay. Tomorrow, taking over the universe.

I know, I've set the bar high, people. I can't help it, Coyote is just that awesome.

After a great deal of practice, Silver can lift up the edge of the silicone skin I got to protect the keyboard of my laptop. While he holds the edge of the silicone up, he manages to remove keys.

Silver can whistle most of the Andy Griffith show theme and some of the Adams Family theme.

Peach can pick up the "s" hooks on my herb drying rack and throw them down to the counter below. When I tell her she is being a brat she throws them even faster and looks at me to see if I've noticed her improvement in the game! Now HOW can that be beat???

:cheery:

Jaid can heartwing, beak bang and bunny hop all at once. Yes, it is seriously true.

No other cock can top THAT.

Coyote lost, like 73 feathers today and could still fly around the room even though he was soaking wet. I know, awesome.

I was inspired, BTW, by Haimovfids video of him spraying his 'tiels in their aviary for their bath. I couldn't believe how strong the spray was and how much they liked it! So I set my spray bottle on stun and gave it a whirl. Turns out Coyote sort of doesn't hate it!

Oh yeah, my birds LOVE strong water! I have tried spraying them with mist and the hate it so much. I can make it mist on the hose with my finger and it absolutely turns their bath mode off. It started getting cold outside but if its nice out for a bath on Friday, Ill take a clear video with the good camera instead of my phone. Ill take it on a better angle as well but it depends on the weather.

EDIT: I forgot to mention something important, When your using strong water, make sure you mover the water side to side constantly so it can feel like rain instead of someone trying to shoot them. If you hold the hose directly at them, they wont like it. You can see how I spray them in the video. :)

Yeah, I want to see another video of you bathing your birds, for sure! It blew me away at how forceful the water was because here I was making sure it was coming down in this super fine gentle mist and he hated it. So I sorta blasted him a bit tonight and he almost kind of liked it, which is a big step for him. All because of your video! I need to find a way to bathe him well, regularly, because I'm allergic to his down powder and when he's really dusty, the smell of him makes my throat start to hurt. I love him dearly, but man, I do NOT like how cockatiels smell! I know some of you do and I totally get it because I love some smells that others hate but yeah... I hate the way my bird smells so baths are a big deal for us.

When I was giving the birds a bath he tended to fly onto my head to get away from it. So I would turn the mister on myself every now and then to make sure he got damp.

Here's a post-bath picture in the aviary. I think he's the middle chick on the shelf, and he's all wet just like the other chicks. Shodu managed to stay dry somehow.
