As some of you may know (and some may not), our first bird, Chipper, got missing (flew away) more than a year ago (in May 2014). Despite long massive search, we haven't found him. Today I got a message and a phone call that a lady thinks she found Chipper 200 miles away (in Overland Park, KS, it's a Kansas city suburb). At first I thought that someone just hoaxing and wants some money so I was really careful talking to her. It sounded, though, that she really found a bird in the park. She sent me some pictures of them riding in the car with the bird, and the bird is certainly white faced cockatiel. It's hard to say by the pictures, after such a long time, but the bird she has I think looks a little different. The problem is that all Chipper's pictures are in the comp that got broken (I am trying to get the hard drive to put to another comp).
Anyway, if I revive pictures of Chipper and her bird, I will post them here. The lady is saying in excitement that she is sure he's mine because of "the same pattern on the wings" (I understand her excitement, the only post on Craigslist that matches her situation is mine LOL). She says she worked in a pet store for 5 years and heard all sorts of strange stories.

Wow, that's exciting it may be him. I never knew he flew away.

where would he been all this time? My husband is very enthusiastic about driving to pick him up. It's about 2.5 hours away of driving, or a year of flying for a bird.

that's how we have what we have now. At first there were Chipper and Trillie, then Chipper got missing. We thought Trillie was lonely (heck, he wasn't, this bird never cared for anything! ) and we bought Cuddles whose owner introduced her as "a boy". Then I was gone for a month to see my family and when I came back I realized the two were not both boys at all.
If Chipper was still with us, I still would have 2 birds.

THATS SO EXCITING!!!

Go for it! Birds look different when they are scared. Your baby is most probably found and is safe with someone right now. Keep in contact with her. Lets bring Chipper home!

there are 2 possibilities for Chipper: somebody found him long time ago and kept, or he's been dead for a long time.
Actually, I do have his feathers. I wonder if it's possible to compare his DNA and of that bird.

Your birds and your daughter are cute!

Unfortunately molted feathers usually aren't good for DNA purposes because there isn't enough DNA on them. Feathers aren't made of living cells so there's no DNA actually in the feather, but with a freshly plucked feather there will be some DNA on the quill tip from the bird's skin. But a feather that fell out naturally doesn't have this.

thank you tielfan, JoJo's Mom, BlueKeet, and CrazyConure!
I e-mailed them some of his pics (thank God I had them downloaded to Walgreens website for printing!). The person who found the bird keeps telling that she has a feeling this is my bird. She is very determined I need to get him back. I am not sure how she found out about us because last time I posted on Craigslist in October 2014, and now we can't find any of those posts thru the regular search. We decided to wait about a week or at least til the weekend. She promised that she would post locally (no clue why she still didn't). She says she has tons of experience with pets
