I know this seems like a weird and obvious question but I want to know. How can I make my parrot have the best life ever?
I gave him a good sized cage, he has plenty of toys, I put the food bowls on the bottom and now he uses 100% of his cage, I will offer him fruits and veggies every day, I keep everything very clean, I give him lots of human interaction and out of cage time, the pellets are coming this Wednesday. Am I missing anything? He doesn't go outside. The flight harness came today and I put it on him and he got strangled in it. I had to cut it out. I feel guilty and I feel like I'm not making him happy because I am not taking him outside. I haven't had much success with bird harnesses. It's just unnatural. Birds aren't used to diapers or harnesses and I don't feel like I need to stress then to wear it. I emailed the company and asked them if they can send me another one. If they do, I'll take it VERY slow. If they don't, I'm just not going to take him outdoors. The windows have screens on then and sunlight goes through it so I can open the window for him to have natural sunlight.
What else can I do that will make him happy?

His wings will stay flighted. There's no reason why it shouldn't be.
I honestly don't want to teach him tricks. I feel like birds don't really learn tricks. I don't have patience to teach tricks and stuff like that. That's kinda the reason how he got strangled from the harness.
They said they will try to fix the harness. I sent it back. If it is fixable then I will take it extremely slow. I'm just not that patient when it comes to teaching animals stuff because they can't understand me.

I heard sun conures were very good at learning tricks.Your bird has a great life they love to spend time with you. They dont have to go outside if the harness dosent work out for you then you can always bring him out in a carrier im sure he will like that.

Mel wrote: Flight suit works better then harness for some birdshttp://www.flightquarters.com/and easier to train I have the harness and I have a flightsuit ordered so no pooping when out and I can put it over the harness so I have a longer lead too.I think harness training is much harder too Rocko still flies away sometimes when he sees the harness same with Loki except Loki dosent fly away she runs but when its on them they dont complain I think I need to Reharness train them.
