I was at PetSmart today and they had two new cockatiels in. One was a regular grey male, appeared to be split pied, very pretty. The other was a gorgeous cinnamon pearl pied... so, so beautiful!

If I ever let Coyote make babies, I want to find him a girlfriend who can help him make some that look like that. I think he's carrying cinnamon, he's obviously carrying pied and he's split for pearl. Most of the way there!

Which Petsmart was it? If it's in an area where I hang out a lot I might stop in and see them.

Coyote can make pearl girls and probably cinnamon pearl girls too no matter what color his mate is, so all you really need is a mate who's pied or split to it to get what you want. But I'd recommend a whiteface gene too so you can get all that and whiteface too. I LOVE whiteface pearl hens. If you end up pairing him with one of Shodu's daughters you won't get any pied but you will definitely get the whiteface gene.

Cockatiels, being sold at PetSmart? Doesn't sound like the one I go to.

That really is weird though, because they're not even listed on the website. Are you sure you weren't shopping at PetCo? Because they sell cockatiels.

Coincidentally, I saw a a couple of pretty looking pearl tiels, on Craigslist. The female wasn't a cinnamon though, and she already had a mate, which looked to be a cinnamon pearl pied. The tiels + cage was $140 dollars. I think I'm sticking with Lucy though, since I wasn't even looking for tiels on craigslist (curiosity just takes over sometimes, though).

It was the PetSmart at Grant and Swan. They rarely have cockatiels in, at least whenever I seem to go but they did that day.

I'm in that area a lot, so I'll take a look and see if they still have them.

Cool! But as is the norm for PetSmart, they were something like $120. Crazy expensive.

I stopped into PetSmart to get cat food and I went to peek at the reptiles and birds, like I always do. $100 for a normal okeetee corn snake! I can find a full grown corn for $15. But wait, there's less! A normal grey hen cockatiel for $150. Crazy.
