I talked to my mom about the whole bird thing. We talked about how small the risk for getting any disease. We talked about the popularity of people having their birds in houses. We talked about how clean i could be with them. We talked for like an hour. She finally said: "OKAY, as long as it is always EXTREMELY clean. If I see any seed on the floor, those birds are out." She won't let me keep them in my room, but i guess it's a big win to keep them inside the house.

THANK YOU ALL FOR ALL YOUR HELP AND SUPPORT. IT REALLY HELPED. AND AS OF COCO, HE SEEMS TO BE GETTING BETTER NOW. I GAVE HIM SOME WATER AND IT LOOKS LIKE HE REHYDRATEED.

That makes me wonder, Does he even know there is a bowl filled with water in his cage? I mean, when i first got him, i gave him water manually. I got my hand soaked, and the tiny little dropps of water that came down my hand, where Coco's water source. Later on, i bought a bowl. And i put it in his cage, just not sure if he actually knows that there is a water bowl there.

Oh, and Carolyn, I dont think the message will be needed any more.

THANK YOU.

Yes, that was totally necessary. :D

So glad you were able to convince her! :D If you want to find easy ways to keep the seed from hitting the floor, there are some no-spill feeders you can get. The one B reccommended looked really good (kinda thinking about getting that one, myself.)

If you're unable to buy online, you can try looking at the nearest petstore, and they might have something that serves the same purpose.

You could also try setting the food bowl in the middle of the cage floor. That way, it's less likely to fall out of the cage.

As for making sure Coco knows where the water is, you can try dipping your finger in it, and letting him lick it off. He'll see the finger go into the bowl, and make the connection, easily. You can also try simply putting the bowl in front of him for him to inspect, or just move your finger around in it enough for him to hear the water.

Yay!!! I'm just now getting the messages, but I'm glad it all worked out. If things get worse again later on I'll be more than happy to write about it for you. My son grew up keeping two birds in his bedroom from the age of 6 onwards, and he's now a university professor. At this exact moment there are 28 cockatiels and a princess parrot living in his old bedroom lol. 15 of those are chicks who won't be here forever but the rest of them are permanent. They do make a mess for me to clean up, but there aren't any health issues.

I'm glad Coco is doing better. The temperature isn't that bad but the humidity is a LOT higher than what he's used to and that's probably what was making him act so weak. Birds are like us, they need time to adjust to dramatic changes in the weather conditions.

I think the bedroom is 14 x14. Not huge, but not tiny either. I can fit a lot of cockatiels into it lol.

You can do a lot with little space if you plan it right.
