My remaining birds have become couch potatoes! I am not lying to you, they spend their time sitting together near the window and nap, nap, nap.
Rocky and Bubu are best friends, and sometimes Bubu chases Charlie away, but it's most an automatic response to boredom than something he does because he REALLY wants to chase Charlie away.

None of them look for interaction with me and that makes me quite sad, I feel like the feeder in a zoo... Basically i Have lost any bond with them, apart from Bubu who sometimes (very rarely) flies on me and lets me scratch his head for a few seconds.

Sam is more than ever attached to his daddy (Paul) and that bond makes me feel even more lonely. I hate to admit it, but I am envious of their great relationship.

I know, rationally, that my birds are rescues and have finally the right to be and do only what they feel, but emotionally I feel very lonely.

Did this ever happen to any of you?

I was thinking of introducing new things in the bird room to make them move and interact with their environment a bit more, and already have a few ideas. If you guys have more ideas, they are more than welcome!!!

My being cut off the flock, I am afraid that there is nothing I can do about it. They don't even call for me when I am not in the room. All that stopped once Keith and Burt went.

I thought of getting a new bird, but what I know about flocks makes me pretty sure that the new arrival will chose the flock over me.

Let me tell you, it's very sad to be treated like an outsider!

I am sorry this has happened with your flock. I do have one bird that is friendly to me, which is Silver. With the others I am just a care taker.

Definitely rearrange the bird room! Add some new stuff. Hang some foraging toys all over the room to get them moving for food.

Try the magic of millet spray! The only time they get it is when you're holding it in your hand. That's a good way to make cockatiels want to be with you.

I am sorry to hear this Barbara.
Is it a bad idea to bring back some of your previous birds (as numbers in your house are low again)? How many birds you have left? Not sure if it's the best for the birds to go back and forth, but sometimes it helps
When Chipper got missing, the house was so quiet that Trillie was almost invisible (not because he suffered without Chipper, he didn't care, but because of the boring type Trillie is). We adopted Cuddles, and the situation changed drastically when they decided to make children :)

Thank you for the comments. Surely I have quite a few in my friend's aviary, but after testing freedom I am sure none of them would be keen to come back. They still recognise me, especially Trilly Frank and Darcy, but they all have their family life and their busy days so I could never get them back! A colleague came to visit today with a galah that was just been rescued, he was so sweet and beautiful in wanted to keep him lol.
For now we will stay this way, we'll see in the future...
