I often want to take photos or videos of the birds when they are doing something cute. But, to get close enough to get a good picture causes the birds to stop whatever they were doing and stare at me.

I would like to get a camera that could take videos from across the room. I envision something that I could keep on the table next to my chair and have easy access to. Does anyone have one that works well for that? If not, I have a knowledgeable friend who might be able to go to a camera store with me, sometime next month.

Be forewarned, if I get such a thing, I will be posting lots of things.

What do you use for a camera right now? I would think it would have a zoom feature.

And at least you have birds that'll hold still for pictures. If they were like how Lucy is with cameras, you'd end up with a lot of pictures like this:

Most cameras have a zoom function these days, even cheap ones. Just watch out that you don't zoom in too much or it could be out of focus (depending on the camera).
Some cameras also have a setting for pets (enhancing details), like all the tiny details/feathers of the crest. :)

I got a fantastic camera which I am totally in love with. It's a Canon I got for Christmas 2 years ago. I got the camera, 2 lenses, cables, battery and case for $400 when that's typically about $1,000.

I'm not going to lie, the best cameras are extremely pricey, but their quality completely makes up for it.

I myself have a canon powershot, and it makes some good pictures, even when zoomed in. It's especially good for videos, too. :)

The specific model is "Canon Powershot elph135", though for whatever reason, I can't find this model online... It's still somewhat new. I got it a couple years ago.

I have a Nikon D5100 and I think it's pretty good.
