Most birds adjust pretty well to being clipped so that wouldn't be a reason for him to be sad and depressed. If he's living in a good home where he's treated well, he has every reason to be happy whether he's clipped or not. Do you know what his living conditions were like before you got him? He may not have had very much opportunity to fly then, and a bird that's fully flighted but kept in a cage all the time is worse off than a bird that's clipped and allowed out a lot.
Remember I got him in the Bird jungle and he was housed in a large aviary with Cockatiels. My Uncles relatives own the Bird jungle and they told me they will have baby plum heads soon though I don't think id get another bird just yet seen as I want to keep a baby tiel too. When he was flighted he was a great flyer.
