All my birds are home tonight.
Sammy is wrapped in a paper towel and will be buried tomorrow.
A woman found him in her backyard but it was too late.
My brave strong little guy, we love you.

He made it rather far away from my house. I would never think to look for him that far. And for some reasons, I was thinking in a different direction.

It is sad, but it's a closure. I can't believe that we found him. I thought we would never learn about his fate.
Fly free, dear Sammy.
On the picture he is on the left, with him siblings. They had a lot of fun together.

He was quite a bully :)
Until he mingled with the buddy who was also quite aggressive (BabyFace, a girl). Then the two had full harmony and left everybody else alone. She is missing him, like we all do.

Thank you Bluekeet.

I'm so sorry that you lost him. I had hoped for a better ending to the story, but when our birds manage to escape the odds are against them. In a way it's good that you were able to find out what happened, because now you won't have to spend the rest of your life wondering what became of him.

Thank you Tielfan.
I think it was inevitable (especially with the temperature drop soon after his escape), he is not the one who would try to ask for help from strange humans. He was very independent when he lived with us, with quick reaction. He could have a chance if someone who saw my fliers before would see him in his yard and let me know so that I could come to bribe him with millet. But my fliers covered much less area than he traveled. She said she found him today in the morning and my guess is that she looked me up at Craigslist.
What a horrible death (from hunger and cold)... I can only say that he didn't encounter a dog or a cat. He is intact but very lightweight...
RIP Sammy

thank you guys
I dream that we have a technology that helps us track lost birds (Of course, they best way is to keep them safe and secure at home)... I was even thinking to contact a psychic, I wonder if they could help

We've already got microchipping technology for birds that will help identify a bird that's been found. It hasn't reached the point where we can use it to locate a bird that has escaped, but someday it might be possible. New technology is constantly being developed to help track and study migratory birds, and eventually there might be something that's practical for pets.

I don't think that a psychic would have helped. I don't actually believe that psychic powers are real, but there are people who are very perceptive and can pick up such subtle clues from the person they're talking to that it seems like psychic powers. But with an escaped bird there's nothing present with them to 'read', and they'd need true magic powers to locate it. I've heard of people consulting a psychic and it gave them hope, but it didn't actually help them find the bird.
