I think the breeder knows. Lovebirds can be bird aggressive, so I highly doubt there were any other birds with the breeding pair. I'm actually glad he's a boy. The only "problem" is that he won't do the funny lovebird tucking. Have you ever heard of it? If not, please look it up on YouTube.

Well darn. Alright, disregard my suggestion. Probably needs a more masculine name.

The tucking is breeding behavior anyway. Not something that you actually need with a single lovebird, and if you decide to make it a pair later on you'll get to see some tucking then.

Late-breaking thought... I assumed that dad was sex-linked lutino which is the most common type, but there is also a non-sex-linked (NSL) lutino in a few parrot species. If that was the case, you couldn't guess Kiki's gender just by looking at what the father was. My parrot mutations book says there is NSL lutino in three lovebird species (Nyasa, Masked, and Fischer's), but not in the peachfaced, which only had sex-linked lutino (at least at the time the book was written).

I'm pretty sure the dad is just a standard lutino. Also, I know the tucking was breeding behavior, but it was pretty dang cute!

Jan, I think I might keep Kiki. If not, something pretty similar.
