If I should. I feel like I need to at some point because being a child of divorce, I leave for a few days at the end of the week. I think he gets lonely in my room, but I'm still training him to step up, go back in the cage at night and let him practice flying. I honestly don't want to move him until he gets it, because I know the others will be a distraction. My dad will come and visit him when I'm away, but I don't know what to do until he learns what I'm asking.

Don't do it yet. He'll be fine in your room for the weekend.

He's still a baby. Training him won't be hard at all. Have you ever considered clicker training? Why don't you give that a shot? You have nothing to lose.

You could always put him in the same room as the other birds for companionship while you're gone, then move him back to your room when you're home.

Okay, so I've been intending to clicker train Dan for a few weeks now, so I just started today. Let me tell you, that animal is intelligent. He's so incredibly smart. He picked up click equals treat in under 5 minutes. I did click/treat for 10 minutes today and put his seeds back in his cage for him to eat. Tomorrow I'm going to introduce the target stick. He is very developed for his age and progresses very quickly. I'm very impressed and I've only done it 10 minutes with him.

Parrots learn that click=treat very quickly. I've heard that it takes longer with other animals, like dogs.

So just an update with the clicker training: I got him to target a stick and now he will follow the stick for his reward. And I haven't been training everyday honestly. I've just been doing it whenever and he is still able to comprehend what I'm asking.

Birds are smart and good at remembering what they've learned, so you don't need to train every day.
