What can I do to make things comfy for my lovebirds cage? I starting to prepare it. I already cleaned it and got some new toys and perches.

Here's what I did so far: The majority of the perches will be rope because the different textures will help his feet prevent arthritis. I have a coconut hideout that will make him feel safe. I have flat surfaces in his cage for a break for perching. Plenty of stimulating toys, boings, ect.

Is there anything else? I really want this to be the most comfy cage alive. Here are cages I got inspiration from: https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&rct=j&q ... 4685986129

(click the link and look at the full page of that thread. Very inspiring, don't ya think?

Some perches made of natural branches would be good too, to exercise his feet and help keep his nails filed down. If you've got bird-safe trees in your yard, you could periodically cut a branch and stick it in the cage with the leaves still attached. He could hide in the leaves or shred them, whichever he liked best.

Different types of food scattered around in different parts of the cage (or room) to serve as foraging opportunities.

The bark isn't great: http://www.botanical-online.com/english ... xicity.htm

The fruit on the other hand is wonderful for birds. Dweezil loves it fresh. The tiels don't like fresh fruit but they love it dried. It's the seed in the middle that's the real attraction of course. I bet your lovebird would enjoy it fresh when he's older. It's messy though, so feed it in a place where it doesn't matter if they splatter juice all over.

Yes, citrus trees in general are considered to be completely non-toxic.

In that case, I will try to get my hands on an orange tree tomorrow. No promises. :)

I will try to make some foot toys too!

There's no better place for an orange tree than southern Florida! Some people grow citrus here in southern Arizona but it's a challenge. I'd like to have a grapefruit tree, but I have serious doubts about my ability to keep it alive.

I'd like an avocado tree even more, but they're even more of a challenge. Avocado trees are NOT suitable for birds, it would be all for me.

I won't even have to try to get the orange tree thriving. Grape fruits can probably work here too, but I personally don't like it. I think it's too bitter. My dad loves it though.

One question, I want to buy a mature tree from Home Depot but I'm worried from the possible pesticides they might have used that can kill my bird. How can I make sure no pesticides were used whatsoever?
