He's not in with the flock yet, but they've seen each other from a distance. He wants to join them but will have to wait for a while.

I contacted Ernie's original breeder for information on his ancestry. She says he's not split lutino, but he is split fallow. Suddenly I've got a rare gene in the flock. Too bad it's a recessive gene, because it's not likely that any of my hens have a fallow split.

You could set him up with Alex. We could take turns caring for them one week at a time.
That'd probably be stressful for them though.


Would the babies also be split to fallow by any chance, if the hen he gets with wasn't?

Half the babies would get the fallow gene from him. The other half wouldn't, and you couldn't tell by looking at them which ones had the gene and which ones didn't.

I'm thinking about the big fallows that were at the bird mart lol.

Robert Castrillo had the fallows. He's one of our California vendors. He tends to have higher prices than the Arizona breeders, and he doesn't post his prices so you have to ask to find out. I got Dweezil from him, but he didn't have any POWs at the recent bird mart so I wonder if he's gotten out of the princess parrot business.
