What’s the best tool to remove leg bands? I tried using multiple scissors yesterday, but the band was too strong. Vets want $75 for a visit to remove the dang thing. Which tool is the best so I can do it myself?

Never mind. I got the cursed thing off myself by using those metal cutters.

I'm glad it worked out OK for you. Trying to remove a leg band yourself is dangerous, you could easily break the bird's leg.

In the early days I once broke a leg putting a band on...

It was slightly nerve wracking, but I had a second person cut while I had the bird controlled. Luckily, the leg band was loose. The vet’s pricing will be their downfall. They could have done it for $10, $15, or even $25! I’m just happy it worked out for me.

I spalked it, but it didn't heal ok. The bird didn't seem to have much trouble though. He used it for support when climbing but not to land or sit.

Long time ago, beginners mistakes...

they need to pay (probably) rent, utilities, salaries to the staff, and so on. Also insurance, most likely
