Today was the monthly bird club meeting, and Buster and Shodu's oldest son Windsor belongs to one of the people there. Her other cockatiel is a 3 year old whiteface pearl hen whose previous mate died. None of her eggs with him were fertile.

Windsor is 10 months old, so he's not really due to be sexually mature for a couple more months. But he follows in the clawprints of his extremely fertile parents, and he and his lady friend are now the parents of a three week old whiteface lutino girl. Pretty amazing.

Are you gonna have pics for us to see? Sounds like a beauty. Do you sell them? I know you had so many baby tiels and was just wondering what you do with all of them.

I haven't seen the grandchick yet, since she and her parents belong to someone at bird club. But the owner is planning to bring the chick to the next meeting. The baby will have fledged by that time, although she probably won't be weaned yet.

Buster and Shodu had 10 chicks last year. I kept three of them, sold six, and gave one (little daddy Windsor) to a friend at bird club. It took me several months to find new homes for the seven that I didn't keep, but ever since then people have been asking me if I still have cockatiels for sale. If Buster and Shodu have babies this year (and it's pretty much guaranteed that they will), I think I'll be able to sell them faster this time around. Somehow I've gotten a reputation for having really nice chicks!

That is great you have people realizing you spent time socializing your baby tiels. My daughter finally wants to get a tiel really bad, since we had our house fire. I'm so glad the heart ache is getting better for her. She keeps looking at them at the pet shops and saying how much she wants a tiel. I'm thinking it's time to get her one. She just bought some finches and is happy with them and their peeping song. It sure took her a long time to start getting over the loss of our fids. I know some breeders that may have some available now and if not they should have some soon. I have to find one that does not look like any of the 5 we had and lost. I am thinking a lutino or albino would be a good choice.

How wonderful to be getting a tiel again! You may have noticed that cockatiels are my favorite bird. :D

Cockatiels are awesome birds. They are fun and so friendly if tamed. We loved out tiels.

Your tiels are beautiful! I have several pairs and I'm hoping to get babies this year. I raised tiels in the past, but none of these have yet to have babies.

Good luck getting your tiels to breed! Spring is a popular time for breeding, even if you don't want them to. I found that out the hard way!

ooo I know all about that..hahaha. The tiels I have are all young and have not yet been parents. I'm sure they will this spring/summer.
