OMG!!! That was amazing. She didn't pick a very good place to drop it, but I assume it's infertile anyway so there's no harm done. That's the first time I've seen an egg-laying video, and I've never seen it happen in real life even though dozens of eggs have been laid in my bird room.

we boiled it anyways as shes mated with her brother...

she only laid the one and she has not sat on it and shows no more interest in the box aside to bury the egg and fake eggs....

Maybe the fake eggs worked after all and that's why she stopped laying. It's my understanding that some birds will bury the eggs to hide them from predators and keep them warm until they're ready to start incubating. Although if she's really done laying you'd think that she would have started incubating by now if she was planning to.

But the egg isn't going to hatch so it doesn't matter, and it's better for her if she doesn't spend the next three weeks sitting on a useless egg.

It's still mind-blowing that you caught the egg-laying on video.

it was pure luck we got that video. walked in the room just as she was laying and my camera was on the tiels cage so i grabbed it just in time! it was around 9:30 at night. i never expect to even see it, i hear its really rare to even see egg laying.

we removed the nest as she had no interest in it anymore.

So all she really wanted was to lay one egg? She's full of surprises, isn't she?

even bigger surprised, she learned how to pull out the blocks to the feeder doors in her cage!! so now she has side ways food bowls in the blocks places lol because thats whats supposed to go in those feeder doors but since combining their cages, their cages are sideways... so they have sideways food bowls that munch is mad at because she cant remove them to get out, so she threw herself a little tantrum today
