Trust me, this is normal for him. He is not sick, but he always naps like this. It's hilarious. Whenever he does this, I call him "Floppy Poppy" because he rolls over like a puppy and gives himself scritches at the same time. It's not common at all to have a budgie do this. Most stop at 2-3 months, as it's typically baby behavior. But not Poppy, who has hit puberty already at 6 months and still continues this behavior. He is... special.

The original owner of this group had an adult budgie who would sleep like that.

A couple of this year's cockatiel chicks liked to flatten themselves down in the bedding of the nestbox even after they were old enough to sit up on their feet while they slept. I called them "road kill" because that's what they looked like when I peeked in the box lol.
