Hooray! Besides the hawk sticker you now have a new way to scare your birds!

Honey I have a MILLION ways to scare my birds. Walking into the room wearing a hat is one of the best. Coughing without saying "excuse me" IN ADVANCE is another one.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that has birds that get scared of everything. Why do you have hawk stickers on the window again?

The hawk stickers help prevent the outdoor birds from flying into the windows. They see the hawk silhouette and fly the other way.

It doesn't help when they're being chased by an actual hawk though. The Coopers Hawks are smart, and some of them have figured out that it's easier to catch their prey if they chase it toward a window. The bird bounces off the window and the hawk catches it on the rebound.

You actually saw this happen? That's pretty cool...and sad for the bird that got caught by the hawk.

I've seen it happen more than once. The window the hawks like to use is right in front of the table where I eat my meals. Right now the hawk attacks are more random and infrequent, but in the past we had a hawk who absolutely knew how to use the windows and took advantage of them regularly. Most of the victims were doves, but the worst was when he'd chase a quail toward the window. They're a lot heavier than the doves, and the impact sounded like someone had fired a cannonball at the house.

Well I'd put something in front of that window. The idea of birds chased in front of my eyes would give me a breakdown. I know it's nature but I refuse to witness it.
I confess I am not a fan of the colbert report but that episode had me in stitches! That bird is just ridiculously fake lol, I wouldn't mind to have one myself. The tiels would tear it apart though :D

Here's my very own Perfect Polly in the spotlight:

Totally cheesy and hilarious. I love the feet, they're so much more realistic than the rest of the bird. It doesn't actually sound like a parakeet, but I bet it would scare the cockatiels way more than a REAL one would.

This isn't mine, but here's what happens when a real cockatiel meets Perfect Polly:
