Not exactly a "small bird", but I thought this was too funny not to share with you guys. Enjoy! :D

While it's cute in the video, I don't think I could handle this for the rest of my life. Especially since they're much louder up close. Gotta love these goofballs though. I think my "minitoo" (Lucy) is good enough for me, though.

This is too cute! I am fascinated by the cockatoos in general, and love to see their antics, but like you, I think my Milo is quite enough... :loveshower100:

That's hilarious. It's like having a 2 year old for the rest of your life.

I don't think entertaining them is the hardest part. I think keeping your house safe while doing it is. They're so destructive. I once saw a video of a cockatoo destroying a small wooden house, in less than 10 minutes.

There are two behaviors you are most likely to find in any Cockatoo. Those two behaviors are:
1: Make lots of noise
2: Destroy things.

Well, I guess that's why it makes sense that Cockatiels are biologically related to cockatoos. They like to chew, as well. Lucy could eat the house up if she were big enough (and if I'd let her). She may be small, but she's a large bird at heart. :D

And that wasn't loud at all by cockatoo standards. This is at their loudest, although this is an M2, the loudest bird on earth, so other toos might not get this particularly loud.

Holy crap! I had the video's volume as low as possible, and I could still feel it (wearing headphones).

That's one thing that's always impressed me with cockatoos, is their volume. I've read somewhere that they're on par with jet engines. That could just apply to Moluccans though, being the loudest species out there.

They really are like 2 year olds. You tell them not to do something, and you get a lecture in bird-gibberish on why you should let them do it.

Yes, only moluccans are the ones that are as loud as jet engines. Take out your headphones and turn up the volume completely. That's kind of what it's like to live with a screaming M2.

The super cute umbie is just being silly.

We do low-cost bird grooming at the local bird club meetings, and when we get a cockatoo who's not happy about the proceedings I'm surprised that people two blocks away don't call the cops to report a murder in progress. They are LOUD.

My vet told me that when they're dealing with an unhappy macaw, they have to wear earplugs to comply with OSHA standards for workplace safety. That probably goes double for 'toos lol.

Cockatoos are gorgeous and I love them, but they have high-strung personalities and really do require more interaction and entertainment than other species. They will go nuts if they don't get it, meaning long-term problems with screaming, plucking, biting and fun stuff like that. The males are notorious mate-killers in a breeding situation, which I haven't heard of with other types of parrots. I've heard some people say that Moluccans in particular probably shouldn't be kept in captivity because they have so many problems adjusting to it.

The mini-cockatoo that most of us have is a lot easier to deal with.

This is what it looks like at my house when I'm handing out millet spray or sunflower seeds:
