So much good advise for you...
I hope it has helped..
We all suffer loss, its terrible, but in time it
hurts less.
My advise to you, don't go to the other forum..
I've not bothered since I came here...
I hope school helped to keep your thoughts away from the terrible tragedy, just give plenty of
TLC to your other birds.. It will get better.

I have to go to work right now so I can't write a lot. But I thought of something this morning. You mentioned that you found Quinn's tail feathers. If it was just tailfeathers, with no blood or other signs of injury, this is NOT a sign that she was harmed. Birds can drop their tail feathers to help them escape from a predator that has grabbed them by the tail. It's possible that she could have made a clean getaway.

Good luck getting through the day. Try to pay attention to the classes, if your mind is occupied with this you won't think about the birds so much. If the teacher is too boring, maybe you could look at something else in the room and think about it.

Baruch, I have no idea how much time difference there is between Florida and GMT, I will have to investigate... But maybe you are back home already and I was wondering how you're feeling now.

Thank you both!! I am feeling much better after I talked to an adult about it! My cousin said I should burn the other ones that are alive and BBQ them, I didn't find it funny at all :(

I'm so upset!!! The raccoon came back and punched the cage bar and left a big dent!!
Moon lost a tail feather in the process! I didn't see it happen but I know because the bars where in perfect condition. I'm so mad now that once we capture the raccoon with a trap I am planning on drowning him or her, I am furiouse :x

Who did you talk with?
Your cousin is a jerk and I hope he's not said adult.
Where were the cages, Baruch? Did you leave them on the porch again? This is way too dangerous, put them in the garage NOW!!!

I understand your rage but that raccoon does what raccoons do, that's his nature, please don't take me wrong but he's a living creature and has no evil in himself. You just need to keep your birds away from him.
Even if you kill one, others will come, killing him will not solve your problems.

I agree on the raccoon not being evil and just doing what he has to do to stay alive. Trying to drown a raccoon is also not very safe for the humans. Raccoons are tough fighters who can kill a dog in a fight, and they're major carriers of rabies. You definitely don't want to get bitten by one.

Your cousin sounds like a jerk. I think I would have said no thanks to the bird BBQ and offered to barbecue part of his anatomy as an alternative.

Now that the family knows there's a predator problem, it's up to the humans to keep the birds safe. My preference would be to keep the birds indoors until you've had the trap out long enough to be fairly sure that you've caught all the regular visitors, and to keep them indoors at night even after you've gotten rid of the predators. But the adults in the family make the rules so you'll have to work with them on the bird safety issue.
