Today I sold the first of my chicks, and I did't expect it to be such a devastating experience.
Well, maybe devastating is too much of a strong word. Let's say "upsetting".

The lady who got Perry is genuinely lovely, and I KNOW that he will have a happy life and be spoiled rotten, there is no doubt about it.
She abhors clipping and that reassured me even more, especially since he is so young and still learning to fly.

Everything was so perfect, a lovely family who did a lot of research before even thinking of getting a cockatiel, and he made me so proud because when he arrived in his new home he behaved like the good social and friendly boy I know he is.

So, since I had no reason whatsoever to be worried, my brain had the brilliant idea of sending me a toothache from hell.
Usually in these situations I develop fake allergies and look like a pufferfish. The toothache is new :o
I am curious to see what will happen tomorrow when two more will leave the nest. Halopecia?

Consider the possibility that it was actually all that Christmas candy that sent you the toothache from hell. You never know, 'tis the season and all that.

Getting more serious, since you think it's stress related it might be jaw-clenching rather than a problem with a tooth that's really causing the trouble. I hope it gets better soon!

hehe I knew you'd find perfectly good and rational explanations to the toothache... which of course they are true! But the brain punishing the body is so much in character, nothing surprises me anymore!
An insane amount of clove oil and painkilling bombs did absolutely nothing until one hour ago, but now I feel a bit more human though, thank you :)

Baruch, it's very hard :(
When I read about the flea market threat I was seriously worried for you!!!
But it's nice to know that I gave Trilly the chance to be a mom, which she wanted so much... and that they are all gone to great places, at least apparently, I don't want to get paranoid about it.

Jan you are right, it was a great chance and I enjoyed it so much! little eggs -> flying little people is just an amazing thing to see!
I would do it again if I could be sure that all of them would find the perfect home. The response to my ads was overwhelming.
And as for room... you wouldn't believe how tiny my flat is

They are all gone now, and the last baby was taken today by a lovely lady from another bird forum who took Fifi too. I am happy about it because Fifi was never happy here, with all the bullying, especially after Yoghi died because he was the only one who she was a bit bonded with. She is timid, and loved so much being around the chicks, so hopefully this will be good for her. Trilly didn't even notice that she was gone, she is awful lol.

But the silence here is UNBEARABLE!

There's a big shock when the babies are all gone. My adult birds seem so stodgy in comparison lol.

lol stodgy!
And you think that a cockatiel moves fast until you've seen a BABY cockatiel, they are unstoppable, sometimes I was exhausted just looking at them

Wow Barbara that just sucks. I have had to do that once to a budgie of mine. She was the budgie from the underworld. Most evil bird I've ever had with a blood stained baby-face. Truly the devil in the sheep's clothing. What was I talking about...? ;)

Once my babies learn to fly well, they like to fly round and round the room in circles just for the fun of it, while the adult birds sit there watching them. I call this "crazy chickie time".
