Not the lizards here. They're insectivores.

We have lots of lizards here but they're desert species. They like the water that accumulates in the saucer under the flowerpot but don't bother the plants. The stinkin' ground squirrels are a different story. The day I saw one sitting up in a flowerpot devouring my birdie salad garden, I remodeled the protective cage to make it more squirrel-proof, then put out a live trap and caught his fuzzy butt and relocated him. He's somebody else's problem now lol.

Looking good.... I grow mine from seed... I eat the carrots and the birds get the tops... I've never tried your way... but I'm going too... for the idea

The carrot with the cottons on the bottom didn't make any growth changes over the past few days, but the top with water made a change.

Wow....that's so cool! The only lizards I've seen here are Blue-Tailed Skinks. We used to see a lot more than we do now. By the way had anyone seen or read the Twilight series?

Tielfan, the only reason that I could come up with how my carrots grew more is because you live in a very dry climate.

I am SO jealous!! The tiniest green shoot in your picture is the best I could ever do, and then the orange part would start rotting and the shoot would wilt.
The summer rains have begun and the humidity is hitting 30% on a regular basis. I'll try it again and see if it works better during monsoon season.

Dainne and Carolyn.
The tallest carrot top finished growing so I gave it to my birds today. They went crazy for it. They demolished it under a minute. I have photos of the carrot top and the birds eating it.
