I like ekkie hens. The colors are gorgeous, and the white ring around their eyes always makes them look a little crazed.

How do you guys stay on top of all the poop with all your birds flying around??? I worry about it just thinking about bird #2.

I couldn't care less. I just let them have their fun out here and clean up whatever I see. I don't really do a poop search, but if I see it, I scrape it off and vacuum it off the floor.

You can't have birds and a super-tidy house at the same time. You keep it clean enough that the Board of Health won't condemn you, but get used to looking at loose feathers, seed hulls, poop, and general debris.

I have enlisted the best helpers I can afford, which is not much but better than nothing: a smallish Dyson vacuum, one of those handheld little vacuums and since last week a B&D 2in1 steam cleaner. I had no idea how dirty my floors were until I saw what comes off using this thing, the best buy ever. Plus a lot of brushes and rags
Fortunately I have a passion for gadgets and everything with a power cord so I am quite happy to spend all I can on those. And even with appliances I am barely able to stay on top of things... but I don't mind, never been the clean freak type

I just clean up as it happens...
also a good hoover, and steam cleaner...

Already a pair. Not that I want them for breeding purposes, just because we actually have a pair of p'lets who don't want to tear each other to pieces! Moon and Piedy. Such a cute pair... I need to stop tempting myself, but yet I can't...
