Nuts have a lot of unsaturated fat, which is better for you than saturated fat. But all kinds of fat have the same amount of calories, which is 9 calories per gram. Nuts deliver a lot of nutrients along with their fat load, so for someone who's trying not to gain weight a small amount of nuts is a better snack choice than a large amount of potato chips. But eating a lot of nuts will add a lot of calories and that definitely won't help with weight loss.

Nuts are also a good choice for someone who is having a hard time eating enough to maintain their weight because they have a lot of other nutrients in addition to the fats. Any kind of oil will provide a lot of calories, but if you eat the whole food instead of just the oil you get more than just the calories. Eating sunflower seeds is better for you than drinking sunflower oil.

I don't have an eating disorder though. I don't do it deliberately. It was just harder for me to eat when I am nervous, which was very frequent.

I wasn't trying to say that you have an eating disorder. My brother isn't anorexic. He is the opposite. He is 12 years old and he weighs over 165 pounds.

And nuts have the great advantage of being small size so you can pick them up from a pocket at any time
