Thanks guys. It's really nothing extraordinary. Just a few extra buttons and no other priority other than to interfere with people who are being mean to other people or to break up a disagreement gone bad. Luckily that doesn't happen much.

The only real upside to it is definitely the staff lounge. Some cool behind the scenes work there.

Barbara, truthfully there has been more than that incident, fun reads! The moderators must provide links to it and I enjoy reading through each one. I will not tell you who did what because I believe that would violate the confidentiality, but I will let you know if there is a current public disagreement in the future if you need to be entertained. ;)

Back in my time, the staff lounge was basically the ruination of the group. Prior to the day when several people including me were appointed as mods, it had obviously been used just for boring administrative talk. But after the big increase in mods, one member of the staff started using the lounge to complain about ordinary members that they didn't like. Soon everyone was doing it. It got out of hand and never stopped, and created a gang mentality that often resulted in several moderators jumping all over someone who sometimes hadn't even done something that was actually a problem. It created a bad atmosphere on the public side of the forum that was still going strong when I gave up being active there a year ago.

So my advice to you is this: if you want to have a good atmosphere on the public side, encourage a positive atmosphere in the staff lounge. DO NOT engage in nasty gossip even though it's fun, or at least temper the gossip with some reasonable comments. The stuff that happens in the staff lounge has a way of spilling out into the public forum, so make sure that the action there is something that you wouldn't mind seeing in public.

Did they ever talk about me in the staff lounge? I really hope not.

No, actually, the lounge is just moderator talk. Just a list of people who've been warned over the months and a tally of those with infractions. No gossip on any of the pages. Perhaps they were the older moderators who quit because for all 11 pages I cannot find one thing about gossip on any member. No insulting comments or anything. Very clean and friendly for both sides of the forum, public and staff. :)

Don't worry. Like I said, no gossip.

By the way, I did not mean to Happy Chirp your post, so you have an additional Happy Chirp. :D

OK. Good. Got scared for a second. I wondered why you gave me a happy chirp. I was like, "Was it something I said?"

Roxy had plans to go through and delete the nastier threads after some of the old mods left and it sounds like she did it. Good for her!

I just got a promotion myself. The American Cockatiel Society election results were announced today and I'll take office as the Vice President of Breeding Management & Research on January 1. I also became an admin on the ACS Facebook page about 10 minutes ago lol.

Lucky! I wish I was smart like you. Then maybe I would get cool promotions.
