Here's some more Little Richard for you too. His heyday was in the 1950s so he was even before my time. The Beatles were my introduction to the rock scene.

It was actually what NOT to do if a bird poops on you, since the ancient mariner got into all kinds of trouble for killing the albatross. There's no mention of pooping in the original poem, but Mad Magazine did a spoof of it a few decades back called the Rime of the Modern Surfer, where a surfer kills an albatross because he's afraid it's going to poop on his hair. I'd have to get it out of storage, but I have the magazine and can scan it and post it here if anyone is interested.

I think the singer was wearing a long robe not a dress. Iron Maiden does a lot of odd songs with a historical/mythological theme. I haven't watched many of their videos but I get the impression that the singer likes to wear odd costumes. The Egyptian-style backdrop on the stage relates to another one of their songs (Powerslave) about an ancient Pharaoh who's frustrated because he has to die. There's a weird costume in the video for that song too.

No shame in that. I find Shania Twain gorgeous and I'm a straight female!

For me it's rock, blues, and some fluff for when I feel melodic and chirpy.
Nothing beats Johnny Winter in the morning when you need to get up and move.
My first love were the Rolling Stones and they will be my last, with a marked preference for Keith Richards who is the Tielfan of guitar : he knows EVERYTHING and it's a pleasure to listen to him talk about it.
I also love country music (with extreme disgust of my british black sabbath loving boyfriend), and I have a veneration for Dolly Parton.
My two greatest regrets are not being old enough for being a groupie in the early seventies and not being american and old enough to live in Laurel Canyon.
I am still upset when I think of it lol

Beethoven and Mozart are two great favourites together with Gregg Allman who is one of my heroes of all times.

And I deleted all music channels from my TV, that's how old, grumpy and opinionated I am hahahhha

The Rolling Stones wrote a great song about cockatiels, but they got the lyrics a little bit wrong. They should have said "as TIELS go by". They also should have said tielies or tiel chicks instead of children. With those lyrics the song is all about watching and listening to cockatiels.

P.S. For extra credit, they could have said "poop" instead of rain. Or "seeds", but poop is funnier.

And now for something non-weird... the 3rd and 4th movements of Beethoven's 5th Symphony. This is the community orchestra's "way above our heads" piece for this season. It's the best symphony evah, spectacular all the way through, and I like the 3rd movement better than the much more famous first movement. We've been focusing more on the fourth movement, but tonight we finally got to really play the third. It makes me so freaking happy.

Wow, I think you guys sound great! What do you play again?

Also, do you by any chance have a Dr. John who plays clarinet in your orchestra?
