It's a little better. As one gets older, these things often take more time to heal.

I go Pilates once a week and swim twice a week. I have been able to keep up with these activities, although having to take it a little easy on the Pilates.

Sometimes I wake up feeling it will never get better. Then, I remember times in the past when it has gotten like this, and with proper care it does improve in time.

I have had fractures of my pelvis and two vertebrate in the past. All this healed. But, it left me more vulnerable than I would be without this history.

Thank you for asking and for your support.

You poor thing. My mom has had terrible back issues and has had two surgeries fusing cervical vertebrae together and it has helped but she's starting back up again. It truly is awful. If it gets truly awful for you, where you can't work or live without meds or whatever, it may be time to see a neurosurgeon to talk about what's going on and options. Surgery could help, but you only want to go there as the last resort, because once you have back surgery (same with knees or any joint really) then it will always be very problematic but if it ever gets bad enough, the trade off can be worth it.

I'm sure you've probably already looked into all this, but there are other physical therapies out there for different types of back pain. I'm sure pilates helps a great deal, but there may be some specific exercises (even some requiring weird contraptions) that can be helpful as well. For a while, my mom was using this thing that she hooked onto her door and it helped a little but not enough and it was around that point that she ended up getting her first surgery done which provided a lot of relief for several years.

Getting old sucks. Being a woman and getting old really sucks, well, with regards to bones and hormones that is. Men get their own, uh, unique problems with age.

But alas, aging is part of life.

Cloudy, you have a very dry sense of humor.

On average, we women do seem to get to live a little longer and stay healthy a little longer. Sort of evens out, I guess.

Older women end up alone, because there aren't as many men around of the same age, and to make it worse, the men her age want younger women. On the other hand, women get to live a little longer.

Well aside from all the gross outs....I agree Yoga is the best thing any women OR man can do to age gracefully. I also do Chi Gong. It improves my over all strength and balance.
