I think the younger you start, the easier it is.

I've never successfully taught any of my birds to accept a harness so I'm not the best source of advice lol. Cockatiels are one of the more difficult species to train too, they don't normally touch each other on the body except for mating and fighting so they don't much appreciate being touched on the body. But it can be done. Younger is better, and do what you can to make it a non-scary, fun experience for the bird. Easier said than done I know, but rewards and bribery can help. If there's some special treat that he likes then give it to him in conjunction with the harness training (millet is usually good). If he likes looking in a mirror you can use that as a reward too.

My cockatiel Rocko is harness trained I will be getting a harness for Loki soon. What I did was basically things it said to do on the DVD like get them used to the harness being near them and you just work to getting it on him starting with the head first get him used to the head part being over him.It took Rocko about 3 weeks cant remember to accept the harness and stop biting it he comes everywhere with me,Morning walks,Shopping,Basically everywhere I go I also bring him to the petshop when I go he never seems interested in the other birds dosent call them or anything and even Loki he dosent do anything with Loki.
I had the harness the wrong way around in this photo lol.

I see you have an Aviator Harness for
your tiel.... did you purchase the cockatiel
size or something else?
Different makes seem to be different sizes.
Small, petite?
Is this the one you would recommend for
me to buy? :thanks:

Yes I have the Aviator harness size X-small Rocko is bigger than most cockatiels thats why he has X-small but Loki is alot smaller than Rocko so he has to get petite and thats the size for cockatiels. If your tiel is big I would say get X-small but if hes a normal sized tiel get petite.
