I know just what you mean, Jan. I am also retired. The "activities of daily living" seem to take as much time as a job used to.

Yes. But I want to say that my energy level and physical capabilities are less than when I was younger. I know there is a movement in this country to raise the retirement age. It is important to recognize that many are less able to do as much as they did when they were younger.

I heard they are now expecting police to work until 60-62. No way. Daddy was 49 when he retired out on medical reasons and mama was 50 when she retired. Police work is hard on police and there's no way that they're going to have 60 year olds go on a foot pursuit after some 20 something kid. I doubt they could scale walls and fences at that point. And the stress of it, they're going to be like daddy and have a heart attack before they naturally retire.

I want them to keep retirement the way it is. When people get older, they aren't as good as they used to be sometimes.

You are right, Stephanie. Some might say that an older person can get a less physically stressful job, but that is usually not realistic due to age discrimination.
