I have a classmate named Vlad. Now, all I can think about when I hear his name is your cockatiel.

Just be careful when you try to scritch his head. He can be nippy without an appropriate lead-up to it.

Whatever you do, do not mention the three-some.

what is the origin of cockatiel's name?
Does your classmate have Russian parents, by any chance?
Vlad is short from Vladislav in Russia.

My son and I used to randomly pick a name and say "(Whatever) would be a good name for a cockatiel". One day the name we picked was Vlad, and it really was such a good name for a cockatiel that the next time we got a new bird we named him Vlad.

He's cinnamon (a lighter shade of grey) and sometimes he bites hard, so we call him Vlad the Impaletiel. Like Vlad the Impaler, only different.

The name of Russia's current leader was like a gift to us. We also call our cockatiel Vlad Pootin, since he poots (poops) all over the place.

the only problem is that Putin's name is not Vlad :) His name is Vladimir, which shortens to Vova (believe it not not), I know this sounds weird because Vlad is exact part of the name Vladimir. Nevertheless, they are totally different names, and if somebody called Putin Vlad, it would sound just incorrect.

Oh well, I'm not going to worry about these technicalities. I don't call the bird Vladimir Putin, I call him Vlad Pootin. Because his name is Vlad and he poots all over the house. It's close enough for me.
