Obi got caught by his leg band today... one of the clips on his toy caught in the band and he was swinging by his leg...
If I hadn't been in the room I dread to think what would have happened to him... it took myself and husband to free him... luckily no harm was done.. he was very shaken up
I've checked all his toys and thrown the ones that look like they may cause trouble....
Please check your birds toys if your bird has a leg band...
I'm thinking of taking him to get it removed but its not so easy so I'm told...
I don't like leg bands myself but breeder here use them a lot...

There's a general problem with birds sometimes getting caught on the C-clips used on toys. The screw part comes undone which leaves an opening that a leg band or lower beak can get caught on. Other toy parts can be a problem too sometimes but the C clips seem to be the most common problem.

Actually removing leg bands is quite simple. I've had all of my banded birds bands removed. But don't do that yourself. The vet has tools to do it.

I'm glad you were there to help him out.

Some C clips fasten tighter than others, and you might be able to find one that will close tight enough to keep him from opening it. Another option is to use a different type of clip that's less of a bird-catching hazard.
