I'm browsing Craigslist, well, for no reason. I'm not getting anymore animals but I just like to look. I always check the pets section and my eyes always glimpse to the bird ads. So I click on this one. I'm browsing through the pictures and one really jumps out at me. It looks very familiar.

It's Pip! Keep in mind, this is Sacramento Craigslist. I'm not sure how that person found the particular photo...

Interesting. It seems like the person possibly didn't know how to put their own pictures on Craigslist, and simply found a bunch of pictures off of google. I've seen Pip's picture when searching "white faced cockatiel" on google images, which redirects here: http://www.exoticwings.com/info/austral ... -male.html

Pip is one of my birds. That same picture is in my signature. I found the ad and reported them. Unfortunately they didn't provide a way for me to explain why I was reporting them, because I would have told them it was fraudulent because one of the pictures was stolen from me.

You might want to tell these guys to take your picture off, too: http://www.exoticwings.com/info/austral ... -male.html

That's where the picture on google images redirects to, and is probably how the Craigslist person found it. Heck, if you type in "white faced pied cockatiel" in Google images, you don't even have to scroll that far to see Pip's picture. I wonder if there's a way to get Google to take it off, too.

May want to watermark your images as well. Something simple like "copyright tielfan", or whatever. I'm not sure how you can make it so the watermark only shows up if someone saves it to their device, but you couldn't probably put it in a corner, or something.

Thank you, I just wrote to them too asking them to remove the picture. On the bright side, they obviously think Pip is a handsome fellow lol.

That site is in Canada BTW so it's odd that somebody in Sacramento is stealing a picture from a Canadian site that they (or somebody further down the chain) stole from me. The moral of the story is don't believe everybody on craigslist or birdselling sites.

That was our bird of the month photo several years ago.

While I was looking at image gallery results for whiteface pied cockatiels, I came across this very strange picture:
Image

What's with the brown eggs? Cockatiel eggs are white. Those eggs are either extremely rotten to a degree that I've never seen before, or they're fake, or they belong to a different species. The picture came from a breeder's website at http://www.zephyrs.ca/frCockatiel.html

Unfortunately, the source doesn't explain why. I thought they were fake eggs made by a strangely colored clay and wasn't painted, but from the looks of it it's a breeding website.

I found only one situation in a forum website where a cockatiel laid a brown egg. No one knew why, and it ended up being infertile and being tossed out of the box by the parents.

I'm asking the American cockatiel society Facebook group to see if anyone knows how something like this happens, because I'm really curious now.
