That's pretty funny! Saguaro cacti are native to the Sonoran Desert where I happen to live, so I see them every day. But none of them look that active!

Definitely no needle throwing, and saguaro needles are more benign than the other cactus needles around here. Prickly pears are NASTY and you have to watch out for the chollas too, but the saguaros just sit there minding their own business. After living here for 27 years I recently got stabbed by a saguaro for the first time ever, and it didn't hurt much. It only happened because I was crawling around on the ground pulling invasive plants and I put my knee (and lots of weight) on a broken piece of saguaro that I didn't notice on the ground.

Prickly pears aren't that bad as long as you see them. Then again, what you see nasty, I see as yummy treats for my desert tortoise. She absolutely loves the fruit! :) Heard that fruit can make some good jelly too.

Chollas are definitely pretty bad though. They're nicknamed "jumping cacti" for a reason, and that's because they come apart so easily, it's as if the pieces "jump" out at you.
