I have this friend who has never seen titanic. Has anyone here watched it? Do you recommend it?

I haven't seen it recently but I have watched it. Honest opinion: I thought it was silly.

Lol! If you don't mind me asking, how was it silly. I'm curious.

They had to do something while everyone was waiting for the ship to hit an iceberg and sink, so they came up with a romance between upper-class girl Rose and lower-class boy Jack. It wouldn't have been a bad story if they'd toned it down a little and made it somewhat realistic, but it was over the top. I also didn't think that either character was likable, so I didn't mind that they were sailing toward doom. Rooting for them to go down with the ship was what made watching the movie worthwhile. :bigsmile100:

The sinking of the ship is true of course, and the movie showed some of the people who were really on it. But Jack and Rose are completely fictional. Leonardo di Caprio played Jack and millions of teenage girls went nuts over him and the "tragic love" story. But looking at him doesn't do anything for me.
