I haven't read The China Study myself so I can't comment on the content. But it's possible that the flaws aren't obvious when you read it. The complaints are that they cherrypicked the data, meaning that they left out anything that didn't back up the results they wanted to present. And there were some major, large-scale pieces of data that didn't fit. But the reader won't know what was left out of the book unless they go looking for criticisms written by people who got their hands on the original data and did their own analysis.

There's another blast from the past in that thread too. Barbara picked a good time to be AWOL from LFB - she missed our adventures with Brandon.

Juliet did it again in at least one other thread: http://talkcockatiels.com/showthread.php?t=134954 It started out being about something else, but by the end of the first page she was ranting about meat.

Dragon Fruit..... ok.... after all the talk on this fruit I decided to purchase one....
I'm pleasantly surprised.... taste a little like Kiwi but a little sweeter.... comes in a yellow/ pinky colour,I found it nice but wouldn't rave over it....
Also known here in the UK as Pitaya....

Yes Juliet is the one I meant, I think. If ever in met a completely ignorant and self centred person, that was that "thing' lol
I love Tielfan's tries to get the discussion back on a scientific basis lol, when everyone had lost the plot already :D
I had a couple of rounds with" it" myself before deciding to fuff off from there lol

"The standard definition of ignorant is "lacking in knowledge". Rudeness is a separate issue. That's why it's possible to be ignorant and polite at the same time, or knowledgeable and rude at the same time." hahhahahh this is priceless....

For such an educated person you'd expect her to know how to spell cholesterol... I love John mcdougall but there is admiration and there is fanatism.... Weird stuff.

Looking back at the thread several weeks after the fact, her posts look even more insane than they did the first time around lol. So much passion over FOOD for heavens sake, as if the fate of the universe depends on what she has for lunch. This is sometimes called "food as religion", and The China Study is obviously her bible. She claimed that her misspelling of cholesterol was a typo, but she spelled it the exact same wrong way at least half a dozen times.

Brandon was another piece of work, with a unique talent for offending people. He liked to redefine words when people took issue with something he said. One of my favorites was when he redefined destiny as "freedom to choose your own path in life" after using it in a sentence where he was talking about a predetermined outcome. He's been booted out of a lot of groups for stirring up drama and trouble, and a celebration broke out when I kicked him out of this group.
