I know I just lost Rio, but things have been so empty right now. I really want another bird. I would probably want a lovebird or probably a small conure. Not sure. But anyways, is it cruel that I'm thinking of another bird even after I just recently lost one?

I would not think you are cruel. I think you really, really love birds.

I am sure you would take every step to avoid a recurrence of what happened.

I have made many mistakes in my life. I just try to learn from them.

I remember when my ex-husband accidentally poisoned out cat, by using an outdoor insecticide in the house. He thought having an exhaust fan on "would be just like it being outside." I was very upset, but I had to forgive him, as I have had to forgive myself.

It took me several failed relationships before I was able to see that I am better off not sharing my living quarters with another person.

There's nothing wrong with it at all. People respond to grief in different ways, and the same person might respond one way at one time and a different way at a different time. Some people can't bear the thought of a new bird at first and have to wait a while, and others can't bear the thought of spending another minute without a bird and want to get another one right away. Either way, it's a sign of how much they loved their old bird.

Go for a new bird..... it won't replace Rio,
but it will help mend the gaping whole you have
in your heart now....
