Is New year a big deal in Belgium ?
Well, we celebrate it. Some folks light fire-works.
I used to love it more. In a time where I had no kids we used to get together with a group of friends. We devided the tasks to have a 4-course meal.
The host would provide the main course. Then others would be appointed for the Champagne and apetisers, soup/entree and finally the dessert.
One guy couldn't cook for ***** so he made us a playlist. We had to find 10 songs that would meet his requirements. (as in a song from 1980-1990, a song about animals, a song with certain words in the title, a song that you're sure about would drive somebody else in the party crazy, ...)
But as we now all have kids, that event is in the past, and I long for those times to return.
As it stands now I'm stuck with my mother in law AND I have to cook (with the help from my brother in law) - mind you I've already spent christmass eve with her!!
But no, it's not that big of a deal I guess, just what you make of it.
