There was a bird mart yesterday and of course I went to it. The president of the bird club bought some birds there for the Christmas raffle and then asked some club members to take care of them until December. I was asked to birdysit this pineapple green-cheeked conure (pineapple is a color mutation):

He's slightly smaller than a cockatiel and quite cute. He's interested in human companionship but is a little hand-shy. So far he won't step up on my finger but he'll jump on my hand to get a sunflower seed. He doesn't actually have a name but I have to call him something and as of right now I'm going with Conan.

I don't have any more pictures at the moment but I'm sure I'll be taking some more! Today he started letting me pet his head, and he's starting to step up too. I get the impression that he doesn't know how to step up (he's still a baby, three months old) because he seems kind of confused about it. But he's learning fast. He's a huge fan of sunflower seeds so I use those to lure him onto my finger.

Where approximately do you live? Bigger cities usually have bird marts and such but a lot of times the smaller towns are out of luck. I'm in Tucson, which has three bird marts a year. Up the road in Phoenix it seems like they have them ALL THE TIME, but Phoenix is a lot bigger and has three birds clubs available to sponsor bird marts, while we only have one bird club.

I have a green cheek conure and he talks. He is so cute and playful. They are really neat birds. I might get another.
