Here's the original:
And here's the new one I just made. Total overkill I know and not necessarily gonna stay this way, but I kind of like it. Say what you think and tell the truth:
The new birds in the top center area are actually taken from old LFB banners. The little "bird rosette" in the middle vaguely reminds me of Our Lady of Guadalupe because of the sort of halo around it lol. It would look classier if I took it out but wouldn't be as much fun.

Here's another version with the halo removed:
And with the bird rosette removed completely:
It probably looks better without the rosette. But the rosette has sentimental value to me, and it also has finches and a lovebird which won't be represented in the banner if I take it out.

Rosette is good! One question: the poor canary (I guess that's what the yellow bird was) has completely gone? I feel sorry for him, isn't there some way to put him somewhere, maybe just peeping below the irn?

The yellow bird is some kind of parrot but I have no idea what species it is. I can probably slide him in somewhere on the right side of the picture. The old banner was made by someone else before I owned the forum and I don't know where they got the images. I'm pretty sure they aren't forum members' birds lol. The two flying birds that I added today are members' birds though. I'll play with the banner some more tomorrow, it's too late tonight. I've almost figured out how to replace the current blah banner on the forum with the bird banner, but I have to figure out how to move the search box. Right now it blanks out the caique's face and we can't have that. So I need to figure out how to move it down to the bottom corner of the image instead of the top corner.

BTW this is what the rosette looked like in its original glory. I really liked the old format and wasn't thrilled when they changed it. This picture is all that's left of that version of the site.
The design they went to after this one was blah IMO, you can see what it looked like at https://web.archive.org/web/20060424055 ... ddies.com/ The main website disappeared for a while and the forum changed formats a couple of times. When I revived the main website I redesigned it to match the design of the forum. It's nice enough for me lol, I'm not super picky about these things.

I've put the old banner on top of the forum just to get some birds up there. But I want to add even more birds to it (in addition to the ones I've already experimented with) and cram that sucker full of colorful birds. Gotta do something about that inconveniently placed search box too. It's a work in progress so keep your eye on the banner lol.

No problem, this forum has been dead for so long that it's wonderful to have people asking lots of questions. I'm not a naturally talented artist or designer so ideas tend to go through half a dozen revisions before I finally get to the final version. The current version of the plan calls for more species to added. I don't know how many I'll ultimately be able to squeeze in, but I'm thinking canary, sun conure, eastern rosella, princess of wales parakeet, and a mousebird in honor of srtiels/Susanne.

Now we're starting to get somewhere. I'm not finished yet, but here's where the banner stands right now: .
MUCH better! Here's the original for comparison:
