Speaking of POWs, how's Dweezil doing? I don't hear about him very often, and he's just too cute! :D

A male POW should be called a prince of wales parakeet

He should be but he isn't!

Dweezil is hilarious. POWs have a reputation for being calm and mellow so I didn't really expect him to do much more than sit on a perch looking pretty. But he has loads of personality. He sings his weird princess songs and bounces around pinning his eyes and looking maniacal, and he likes to throw things around. I have to watch out when he's on the kitchen table to make sure he doesn't throw glassware down onto the ceramic-tile floor. Mostly he sings to himself but sometimes he sings to the tiel chicks, who aren't impressed at all. He doesn't interact with me directly all that much but he's doing it more and more. I've only had him for about three months, and for the last couple of months I've been up to my eyeballs in baby cockatiels so I haven't had too much time to work on bonding with him.

We could call Dweezil a prince, just for the heck of it. He acts like he owns the place, it seems.

I've heard that POWs are good at mimicking words and sounds. Has he picked up anything, yet?

He sounds like a playful boy, alright. This is a strange question, but if you were somehow in possession of a female POW, would you breed them?

Because if by some chance, you do end up breeding POWs along with cockatiels, I would totally buy one from you. :D

If somebody gave me a female princess I would see if they were willing to breed, but I don't have any active plans to get a female. POWs aren't considered to be a difficult bird to breed but they're not as easy as cockatiels. They tend to breed more successfully when you have multiple pairs and I have too many birds already.

He hasn't learned any human words yet, but he has learned some cockatiel songs. Sometimes I discover that the cockatiel who's singing really loud is actually a princess parrot.

He's split to the blue mutation, so with the right mate he could have blue babies. The blue mutation is pretty but the natural coloring is really a lot more varied and interesting. Mutations of the more colorful parrot species are usually not as pretty as the original because you lose some of the best coloring.

Indeed, I'm a fan of naturally colored POWs, but I also like the white mutation.

I don't know what it is about me with birds that are completely, or mostly white-feathered, but I do think they're quite beautiful. I think colorful parrots like POWs look best with their natural coloring, though.

Indeed, POWs are very pretty. :) They have some strange looking color mutations though.

 This is too cute. :D I love it!

Did you finally find a phoenix icon for the 50,000 post goal? :phoenix:

Yes, I'm planning to use the phoenix for that. Although at the rate we're going it will be years before it's actually needed, and it's possible that something better will come along in the meantime.
