Poppy will now kiss me on my lips. I started with nibbling on the nose and he finally decided yesterday he didn't want the nose, he wanted the lips. I'm so proud of him!

Does he like the kisses or does he like lips because they're a good place to find bits of loose skin. With my birds, some like the actual kiss and others are just looking for a snack. Eww!

He likes lips for lips. Most likely because it's the closest he can get to teeth with hitting teeth themselves.
Jaid likes kisses, but he just likes to bite the lips presented. Any dry skin provokes a "BONUS ROUND!!!" situation in his head.

Vlad likes kisses for their own sake. He's a world class scritchie ho too. Henry also likes kisses but with him they're a substitute for scritchies since he doesn't allow those. He likes it when I kiss him on the head a bunch of times and say "Oh Henry". Shodu on the other hand thinks lips are a chew toy.

This isn't really training or bonding with me, but there is some progress between the bond between Beck and Poppy. I saw Beck doing his happy dance and Poppy accepted his advances and Speck regurgitated to him! It was so cute to see Poppy accept his gift. Well, then Poppy put his foot on Beck's back 4 times, but Beck was too busy hopping around doing his happy dance Poppy didn't get a chance.

Sounds like Poppy wants to play the role of the girl AND the boy. He wants to accept the regurgitation gift and then be the one on top lol.

I cut the budgies' cage door to swing outward instead of slide upward a few months ago. To keep it locked I put one of those plastic things that you put on the bread bag to keep it fresh. When I take off the plastic part on the door to let them out Poppy will nibble on my fingernails as I remove it.
Oh and Beck and Poppy are officially BFF's now. They regurgitate to each other (mostly Beck) and then Beck tries to preen Poppy's head feathers and mount him as well.

That's it. I am going to tame these budgies if it kills me. Beck has been cage bound for 7 years. I am not going to give up on them. I am going to put them on a training diet and follow it religiously, because they aren't motivated by food at all. They've improved so much when I pull out the bottom, clean it and put it back in their cage. They don't flutter hardly at all now. If they can get over their fear of that with repetition, they can get over me.
