I agree Jan. Cockatiels will always be my favorite bird. They're pretty much the most perfect pet bird you will ever get.

They are the best. Period.
The stuff they do is funny and definitely weird, and I love how they influence each other in things like songs, food, toys.
I have reduced the number of cages to four, and now that they are in the living room where I didn't yet put wall perches and ropes they tend to hang out on top of the cages (they have open tops and perches).
They regularly go visit other cages and steal everything, only exception being Hamish and burt Reynolds who get mad if the girls sit on top of their cage. But they are OK with the boys visiting :D

Cockatiels are weird at bedtime. A distance between birds that was fine in the daytime suddenly becomes unacceptable at night, so they fight with any bird who's sitting closer than they like.

And yet another for the list. The other day, Cloud took her longest flight yet. From the top of Coyote's cage aaaaallll the way across the living room and landed on my cat. My poor old cat had no idea what was going on, just that someone was suddenly holding him down firmly while Cloud scrambled away (note: scrambling away from the evil hand, not the actual predator). There are a thousand and one things she could have landed on and she chose the cat. Bless her little poor survival instinct heart.

Sigh. It makes life simpler that he's so slow on the uptake these days but it's sad too because I've known him since he was just a few days old and ruling his litter mates.

Some people have birds and cats that are friends with each other, and it's routine for the bird to sit on the cat. It's not a safe thing to do, because the bird might make a wrong move that triggers the cat's natural instincts and the next thing you know you've got a dead bird. But sometimes these two species can get along with each other instead of having a predator-prey relationship.

One of the funniest youtube videos that I've ever seen was of a lovebird humping a cat's ear. The cat just sat there looking kind of bored. Unfortunately it isn't online any more.

Hahaha! Oh man, that would be a great video. While my cat is, like, the most anti-predator type cat ever, he does have interest in the birds... the "I think you're something I'd like to catch even if I don't know what I'd do next" type interest so even though I try to keep his nails clipped and most of his teeth have fallen out at this point, I'll never trust him to actually be near the birds. I let the birds out with my cat snoozing on his favorite chair (90% of his day is spent there) and we put him in a back room if all of the birds suddenly decide to fly in different areas. I also discourage him from hanging out near the bird's corner which is easier than it sounds because I think he has dementia... I just pick him up and turn him in the other direction and it's like he thinks, "oh! Ok, I'll just keep walking in this direction now." and he'll completely forget the birds behind him. Which is funny and sad too. He doesn't seem like he's in pain though and relishes his wet cat food, so I have no idea how much time we have left with him.

Ugh, I've been having such sad feelings about him these past couple of weeks though. He just looks suddenly so much older and scragglier.

Lovebirds are very sexually active birds I find. Teak humped his rope perch every day. It didn't make him hormonal or aggressive at all, he just liked doing it!

Sometimes Q-Tip will sniff the birds through their cages. Beck is a sweet boy and happily budgie bops her nose. Jaid bites it. Beaker hisses in her face and Poppy hides, he doesn't like cats (or dogs) because the home where I got him from had both jump on his old cage. I think she likes Beck the best.
