I give him lots of attention everyday. I'm wondering if I will need to get him a friend in the future because even though I do give him out of the cage time, he does stay in his cage for a bit when I'm out of the house or busy. I feel kind of bad for him. He is upstairs in my room so he isnt in a high traffic area in the house.

Is it mean for him to be all by himself. He does look a bit lonely a lot of the time. I wouldn't really mind getting him another friend but I want to know if it's a good idea. I have the prevue hendryx f040 flight cage for Rio. Will it be alright for 2 sun conures? If I ever get another sun conure for him, I'm going to get it as a baby and give them a lot of time to get used to each other so don't worry about that. I'm just wondering if it's necessary to get company for Rio.

Its not necessary if he gets a lot of attention maybe if your going out of the house or have to run to the shop put him on his harness and let him come thats what I do and I have two tiels and they both come. You could have the Tv or Radio on for him. Also since I got Loki Rocko dosent come to me much anymore I mean he does but not as often as he used to but I know im still part of his flock because he calls me when im out of the room same as he does Loki.

I do take him outside but there's not much places I can go with him that's nearby. I took him out today but only for like 15 minutes. It was very hot and sunny. I didn't want to stress him out.

I feel like he needs at least someone that can give him company 24 hours a day. I would hate it if I was locked in my room with only some toys with attention for like a couple of hours and the rest of the day back in the jail cell. I do feel bad for him. I think he needs a buddy.

I am thinking about the noise as well. They say a sun conure is very loud. 2 sun conures mean double the noise but honestly, I don't find him loud. I use techniques to train his scream like don't enter the room when he is screaming and enter the room when he is quiet. He does scream in the morning though, but that's very normal and it's not really bothersome. My dad goes to work and my mom is busy running errands and the noise level isn't all that bad. It's actually pretty nice to know that he is alive.

I know you bring him outside I meant bring him everywhere you go if (You) have to go outside bring him with you.You can get another if you want to it would give Rio some company and maybe you could get a baby and watch it grow up like you did Rio.

You mean bring him to stores? What if they don't let birds? It would be my nightmare to be kicked out of a store in front of everyone. I would feel so embarrassed like the weird kid who got kicked out of a store with his bird. People will laugh when they saw me if that happened.

I think I would like to get another bird in the future. Not now of course. Rio is still new. I just want to know if it's a good thing to keep in mind or is it a bad idea. I do love the baby bird experience. It's very fun.

A lot of parrots do fine as an only bird. You don't have to provide entertainment for him every waking moment - wild birds spend a lot of time sitting around in trees not doing much of anything so some down time is part of their natural lifestyle. They're not usually completely alone though and presumably you'll be going back to school soon and won't be able to spend as much time with him. So it would be nice if you could put him in an area of the house where there'll be some activity and companionship, even if no one is really paying any attention to him.

I know your family keeps fish, and some people have an aquarium in the same room as their parrot to give the bird something to look at. So that's an option - just make sure the top of the tank is covered so the bird can't fall in during out of cage time. Other people play music or run the TV to create a sense of activity in the room.

Sometimes two birds will make more than twice as much noise as one since they stimulate each other to be noisy. Other times two birds are less noisy than one because they have each other for companionship and don't have to yell for attention. It'll probably depend on the species and on the individuals.

It would be good for him to have a friend also ask the store if they allow a parrot on a harness in their store so far im allowed everywhere with the two tiels.

if you feel this way, go for it! I agree that it would be extremely useful to have somebody who speaks the same language :)
