And when I say "gifted", I meant they are the talkers, they don't have the vocal talents of a zon or grey.

Eek, Beaker is a child molester!

Same-sex birds have been known to mate with each other whether it's two males or two females. One of them takes on the role of the missing sex. I've also heard of frustrated hens mounting a cock because she was "in the mood" and he was clueless.

I was expecting to read about talking birds, not about mating and child molesters! :)

That is the wonder of LFB (little feathered buddies). One person can change the complete direction of the discussion.

It could be that Rio's one of those exceptions to male lovebirds not being too vocal. Kind of like how Lucy is one of those exceptions to female cockatiels not singing? I mean, she's yet to actually learn any tunes, but she's quite the vocal one. Now if only I could catch it on video...

Speaking of talking birds...

Well you said he could talk, right? That's what I consider vocal. Unless if he doesn't do it often?

Or were you trying to ask about Lucy, and got mixed up (I do that All the time)? Because while Lucy is quiet for the most part, she does have times where she'll break into a series of multi-note chirps. I like to call it "chattering", because there's absolutely no pattern to it, and it sounds like she's trying to talk. Sometimes I'll answer her, saying: "yeah?" "Oh really?" "Is that so?" "You don't say." "Are you sure?" She seems to like it when I do, since it feels like she's having a conversation. Of course, I can't be in the same room as she does it. Heaven forbid that the conversation be face to face! Bird logic...
