Ok so my Aunt was over last night she didn't bring her birds I was hoping for her to bring Wasabi to say his goodbyes to Rio anyways my mam said to me do you want me to give you the money to get the bird tomorrow and I excitedly was saying "Are you serious" lol anyways I'm going to collect him tomorrow at the Bird jungle and I got a discount on him because they are related to my uncle so my uncle got me a discount and I'm happy with that. Also Rio will still be here until I find him a great home and I wish him the best of luck. Also I'm too excited to sleep and its late now so I'm gonna stay up because the Bird jungle closes very early on a Sunday and I don't wanna risk getting up late because that would be disappointing. Also I'm gonna let him settle to his surroundings in a cage instead of just putting him in my bedroom and then when he's settled in he can be free of the room.

So you're getting the plumhead tomorrow? From the title of the thread, I thought maybe you got a new bird that we hadn't heard of at all before!

Be sure to keep him separate from your other birds at first. Quarantine is ALWAYS a good idea. Even if a bird looks perfectly healthy, the stress of a new home can bring out hidden problems sometimes. It also gives the new bird a chance to get acquainted with you before he gets distracted by all the other birds in the house.

He's cute! You could call him Professor Plum, like the character in the Clue game.

Another possibility on the toe problem is that his parents bit the end of his toes off. Unfortunately parent birds do attack their own chicks sometimes, and biting off the toes is a fairly common way for them to do it. In any case, if he's missing all his front toenails it will make it more difficult for him to perch, climb and grasp things, so you might have to make some special accommodations to help him out.

I know it's too soon to tell much, but does he seem to be very social with humans?

I wouldn't say he's wild like acts like birds from a pet store I think he's just a little scared of hands and being in a new home but he sits close to the front of the cage with a happy face.Baby plum heads are fully green when babies so he has his adult colouring and he was housed with the cockatiels last time I saw him today he was in a large cage alone guessing he was moved there so when I came to get him they wouldn't have to try catch him in a big aviary with cockatiels flying around too.It would be great if there were other members with plum heads because there isn't much information about them. Also is there such thing as seed for large parakeets I gave him a mix of Tiko's seed and budgie seed.

Feeding treats from your hand is a great way to make friends! I don't think I'd put on the harness at this point though, that would probably be kind of upsetting to him and you're trying to build trust.

A cockatiel seed mix would probably work well for him. Seed mixes and pellet sizes are really based on a bird's beak size more than anything else, so go by what he can actually eat not the species that's listed on the label. His body and beak size are fairly similar to a cockatiel's so cockatiel-sized food should work well for him. If he can handle Tiko's food then that would work well for him too. He needs vegetables too of course like all parrots, and apparently this species eats a lot of fruit in the wild so give him some of that too.

Plumheads are classified with the Asiatic parrots, so it might be helpful to look for a group that knows a lot about Asiatics. Psittacula is another name you could search for, that's the genus that includes Indian ringnecks and plumheads and several other related species. You probably aren't going to find a forum that specializes in plumheads, but you might be able to find one that specializes in Asiatics/psittacula. Plumheads are closely related to Indian ringnecks, so a group with a lot of IRN owners might be helpful if you can't find anything else.
