The pet store I go to has little baby diamond doves they are so cute they were just all together cuddling I have to get a picture next time. Also I didn't like something I saw there they built a new big room in the pet shop so its bigger now and the cockatiel and budgies aviary is right in the centre of the room and there are rabbits in the same aviary as the birds like right underneath them where they could easily be pooped on not to mention the seed for the birds is on the ground which means theres a chance the rabbits might eat it or the birds get injured from the rabbits. Also another unusual thing was there was no food for the rabbits. And there was a worker putting rabbits into cages so maybe they were just there temporary so they didn't run off while putting them in cages.Well anyway so the pet shop is a lot bigger now so they will probably get new animals. Its an exotic pet store they have Meerkats and all mad animals from different countries. And its a very clean pet store but I really didn't like the rabbits and birds together so if I see them again together ill say something about it.I Haven't been to the Bird Jungle since I got Mango and the next time I go I wanna have a Tame plum headed parakeet with me.

Those diamond doves are cute, aren't they? :) they're the sweetest little things. I'm thinking of getting a female for Joey, because they're social things.

It's possible that the rabbits were there just so the employee could clean the cages. It would be hard to do it while they're in the cage since, you know... Rabbits don't have perches to sit on. ;)

He was fully grown when I got him. So yes, he is both small, and fully grown. Diamond doves are the second smallest dove species in the world, and are native to Australia. I'm not quite sure if he likes veggies or not, but from what I've heard, they'll eat leafy greens if cut up and stringy. I'll have to try it soon.

Here's a link showing the growth of a dove baby from 3 days old, to fledging. Notice how, even on day 21, the chick still doesn't have the adult plumage, nor the orange ring.

I'm not sure, but I think they get the orange ring when they reach sexual maturity, or at least after their juvenile molt.

It was fun seeing the pictures of the growth progression. They're so different from cockatiels - the body is more covered at an early age, and the beak looks like a little duck bill!

The ones in Kinsealy pet shop must have been older they had their orange ring but they were small maybe the size of a relaxing cockatiel so probably adults im guessing.Thats the first time I seen doves in there. Also I forgot to mention they had big squirrels right next to the aviary so they could easily attack a bird.

rabbits don't have to be fed constantly. A lot of people do twice a day even though it's recommended to have unlimited access to hay. It looked like they were put with birds for the cleaning only.
